Joey Capone, an actor who was allegedly kidnappedalong with actress Daisy McCrackin from her home in L.A. on May 3, granted his first interview about the incident to ABC News, describing a harrowing ordeal that involved him being trapped naked in a bathroom for 30 hours.
According to the Associated Press, prosecutors allege that the three suspects in the case — Andre Stewart, Johntae Jones and Amber Neal — went to McCrackin’s home, pistol-whipped Capone, placed bags over the two victims’ heads and drove them to Jones’ home in Compton.
“They whacked me on the head with a gun and proceeded to stomp on me and give me a pretty good beating,” Capone said. “(Someone) grabbed me by the collar and dragged me outside and down the driveway and threw me in the back of a car, where Daisy was already in the backseat, and they put bags over our heads. They stripped me naked and threw me in this filthy bathroom with no lights on.”
Prosecutors said the suspects held Capone in the bathroom for 30 hours without food, while Jones and Neal drove McCrackin to several ATMs forcing her to withdraw money, eventually coercing her into writing a $10,000 check to secure hers and Capone’s release.
“They said things like ‘If she doesn’t come through man, I don’t know what I’m going to have to do, I don’t know what’s going to happen to you,” Capone said.
The next day, the suspects brought McCrackin back to her home, where she escaped and called police, authorities said.
Neal was arrested at gunpoint by Los Angeles police officers on Monday, with a video of her arrest captured by a bystander sparking outrage online, before it was revealed that she was a suspect in the kidnapping plot.
“I’m not a victim, I’m a survivor,” Capone said. “I think it’s a state of mind. Yeah, that happened, but what’s the moral?”
